Bloomsburg's Rally Falls Short in Loss to Cheyney

CHEYNEY - The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team fell tom 0-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division after losing 68-64 to Cheyney on Saturday.
Trailing by 13 points in the second half, 50-37, the Huskies went on a 15-2 run to tie the game at 52-52 with Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) knotting the game with a pair of free throws with 8:23 to play.
However, the Wolves went back in front for good at 58-54 with less than five minutes to play on a basket by Shanel Turner. Bloomsburg cut the deficit to one, 58-57, after a free throw from Kelly Burkhart (Sayre/Athens), but Cheyney pushed the lead back to seven, 64-57, on a jumper from Ashley O'Donnell.
Bloomsburg would later make it a one possession game when Kait Urban (Johnstown/Westmont) hit a three-pointer with five seconds to play to cut the lead to 64-67. But, Cheyney's Ashley hit a free throw after being fouled to seal the victory.
Cheyney opened an early 7-1 lead in the game before the Huskies rallied and tied the game at 20-20 with five minutes to play in the half on a Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) jumper.
Leading Bloomsburg (3-14, 0-3 PSAC East) was Urban with 12 points, while Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) and Joyce each scored 10 points.
Cheyney (4-13), 1-2 PSAC East) was led by Martina Randall with 15 points, while Ashley Blake and Carla McPherson each had 10.
Bloomsburg will be back in action on Wednesday night hosting Mansfield at 5:30 p.m. at the Nelson Field House.
